SWEETBRIER is located in beautiful Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. The County, surrounded by water, extends south, from the north shore of Lake Ontario. The peninsula, once covered with dense hardwood forests, was relatively unsettled until the United Empire Loyalists travelled north during the American Revolution. The County, was subsequently divided into 100 acre tracts of land and given to the Loyalist settlers, in recognition for their patriotism to the British crown. Many present day family names can be traced back to these original land grants.

SWEETBRIER is a 175 acre farm consisting of 3 large woodlots, a spring fed pond, pasture and hay fields. Aside from it's natural beauty, the County is noted for shallow rocky soil and an overgrowth of Eastern Red Cedars, resulting in cattle with trim feet and healthy clean coats. The climate is seasonally influenced by Lake Ontario, often with drought conditions during the summer and extensive snowfall during the winter. Highland cattle are well adapted to cope with the local terrain and the climate.
